Product distribution controls

You can ensure that retailers are in compliance with brand policies and are not violating exclusivity agreements using Product Distribution Controls.

What you can do:

  • Limit which products show in a retailer’s Shop.

  • Control which retailers have exclusive access to specific products or collections.

  • Manage pricing visibility for different retailers.

  • You don’t need to be Connected to a retailer to control their product visibility.

How to get there

  • From the Dashboard under Connected Retailers select My Client List.

  • Select the specific retailer you want to manage.

  • Find the brand you want to manage and select Manage Access & Distribution Control.

  • Select Manage on the retailer settings for Product Distribution Controls.

Top level settings

For each retailer you'll set a top level access option, which determines what products are available to show by default. This base setting can be refined to include or exclude specific products.

Include all products

This will set all products as available to sell for the retailer. You can then exclude individual products or collections using exclusions.

Include in-stock products only

This will allow the retailer to sell products they have marked as In-Stock only.

Exclude all products

This will set all products as unavailable to sell for the retailer. You can then allow specific products or collections using inclusions.

Inclusions, Exclusions, and Exclusives

Set access rules on specific products or collections.

Inclusions

Allow individual products or collections. This is useful if a retailer is only allowed to show a handful of products. In this case, set the top level rule as Exclude All Products and use inclusions for the products the retailer is allowed to show.

Exclusions

Prevent individual products or collections from showing for the retailer.

  • Exclusions apply to the whole retailer business, not the individual store level.

  • Exclusions can appear as inherited when another client has an exclusive claim to show the product or collection.

  • Setting an exclusion will override the retailer's In-Stock settings.

Exclusives

Indicate that this retailer has exclusive access to show a product or collection. Then select which retailers are prevented from showing the products. This helps prevent nearby competing retailers from showing the same products.

Example scenarios

Here are some possible examples that you can configure for your retailer’s product distribution.

Only allow the retailer to show a single collection

  • Set the top level as Exclude All Products.

  • Create an Inclusion for the collection.

Allow a retailer to only show in-stock products except for a specific collection

  • Set the top level as Include In-Stock Products Only.

  • Create an Inclusion for the collection.

Give a retailer exclusive rights to a new collection

  • Set the top level according to your general policy for this retailer.

  • Create an Exclusive for the new collection.

  • Select all other retailers who should be prevented from showing these products.
