Pricelist Access Policies
Purpose
This page explains how access settings control which retailers can view and use your pricing data on FurnishNearMe. Understanding access policies helps you manage who can see your wholesale, MSRP, or MAP pricing, while maintaining flexibility across your retailer network.
Overview
Every pricelist on FurnishNearMe includes an Access Policy that determines how retailers can connect to and use it.
Access settings give manufacturers control over how broadly pricing information is shared, from fully open programs to invitation-only arrangements.
FurnitureDealer.Net configures these policies when your pricelist is uploaded and can update them at your request.
The three access modes are:
Open Access
Request Access
Hidden Access
Open Access
Open access makes your pricing immediately available to any retailer you are connected with on FurnishNearMe. This is the most transparent and friction-free option.
How it works:
Retailers automatically gain access when they connect with your brand.
No manual approval is needed.
All price types (wholesale, MSRP, MAP) in that pricelist become visible to connected retailers.
When to use it:
You have consistent pricing across your dealer base.
You want to encourage easy adoption and visibility of your products.
You’re launching new lines or seeking broader retail engagement.
Example:
A manufacturer offering nationwide standard wholesale pricing sets their main pricelist to Open Access so every connected retailer can use it immediately.
Why it matters:
Open access helps your products reach more retailers, faster. It reduces administrative overhead and makes your brand easier to do business with.
Request Access
Request access allows retailers to see that a pricelist exists but requires them to request permission before they can use it.
How it works:
Retailers can view the pricelist name and request access from within FurnishNearMe.
You (or FurnitureDealer.Net, on your behalf) must review and approve each request.
Once approved, the retailer can see and use the pricing data.
When to use it:
You offer different pricing tiers (e.g., standard vs. preferred dealers).
You want to review retailer eligibility before sharing cost or MAP data.
You prefer to maintain tighter control over wholesale pricing visibility.
Example:
A manufacturer provides a “Preferred Dealer Wholesale” pricelist available only to high-volume partners. Other retailers can see it listed and request access for review
Why it matters:
Request-based access adds a simple layer of approval that protects sensitive pricing data while still promoting transparency and engagement with interested retailers.
Hidden Access
Hidden access completely restricts visibility. Only retailers you manually approve will even know the pricelist exists.
How it works:
Retailers cannot see the pricelist in their connection view.
You must manually grant access to specific retailers.
Sales reps (if allowed) can also assign hidden pricelists to their retailers within their territory.
When to use it:
You have confidential or territory-specific pricing.
You’re running limited or exclusive programs.
You work with a small, selective group of retailers.
Example:
A manufacturer with a regional distribution program creates a “West Coast Wholesale” pricelist and marks it as Hidden. Only retailers within that program, assigned by the manufacturer or their reps, can access it.
Why it matters:
Hidden access provides the highest level of control, ensuring only selected partners can view or use pricing intended for exclusive programs.
Changing or Removing Access
When an access setting or approval changes, the system automatically updates retailer visibility:
If access is revoked: The retailer immediately loses visibility to the associated pricing values.
If a pricelist is removed: All connected retailers using that list lose those values until a new list is assigned.
*FurnitureDealer.Net can help manage these transitions to minimize disruption for your retailers.
Tip:
Before removing a pricelist, verify that all retailers using it have been reassigned to a different version to avoid data gaps.
Territory Management and Sales Rep Permissions
Manufacturers can choose whether Sales Reps are allowed to manage pricelist assignments for their retailers.
Reps can only view or assign pricelists for retailers within their designated territories.
If this feature is disabled, only manufacturer admins can make pricing decisions.
Access policies still apply, even when reps manage assignments.
Example:
A sales rep covering the Midwest territory can assign the “Preferred Dealer Wholesale” pricelist to a retailer in their region, but not to one located in the Northeast.
This setup gives you flexibility—centralized control when needed, or delegated control through your sales team when appropriate.
